"The Loved Ones" (2009)

Re-watched a new favorite, "The Loved Ones" (2009). I had read this film tanked in it's home country of Australia, and I can't for the life of me understand why? To me this has "future horror classic" written all over it, and a large part of that is due to Robin McLeavy who is simply sensational as the demented "Lola". She manages to be both terrifying and sexy at the same time, to where I got to thinking if I was a teenager again and she asked me to the dance, I'd still probably say "yes" even knowing how psycho she is! LOL I also love the nods director Sean Byrne throws in to such horror films as "Texas Chainsaw Massacre", "Motel Hell" and even "People Under the Stairs". The film feels like it's made by someone who loves the genre and wants to pay his respects, but manages to never cross the line from homage over into flat out theft like so many others do. An unrelenting and brutal black comedy that needs to be seen by any & all horror fans. 9 out of 10 for me!
