"Muck" (2015)

Watched "Muck" (2015). I had read that this film was made as the # 2 film in a series that is supposed to be a trilogy, where # 1 would be made at a later date. Well, if #2 is what this film strives to be, then they accomplished what they set out to do, because # 2 it most certainly is! In essence the film is a rip off of Jack Ketchum's novels, "Off Season" & "Offspring", made to the tone of the "Hatchet" films (minus the groovy kill scenes), with antagonists that look like low rent versions of the "engineers" from "Prometheus". There is no beginning, middle or an end - things just happen in this film with no sense of narrative or plot structure. Then you have scenes that just go on way too long and in most cases have little to no bearing on the events at large (I refuse to use the word "plot" for this). In fact, most of the first half of the film is random scenes of women stripping in front of mirrors, all of which are shot like a bad Playboy centerfold video. Once the killing does start, the main characters suddenly turn into action heroes, taking out the baddies in "300" slo-mo fashion over & over again ad nauseuam. To it's credit, the film certainly doesn't take itself seriously, but there's no real wit to it whatsoever and any attempts at humor fall flat on their face. 2 out of 10 for me.
